About me
Photographer | Artist
Also known as FLYSOLO
I photograph, draw, paint and spent a large part of my life making music. I express myself as a creative through various mediums. My first job ever, was as a radio journalist (subsequently i became a radio news editor). From my late teens until my mid twenties i hosted a Hiphop show on FM radio.
I was born and raised in Cabo Verde. Since 2008 i reside in The Netherlands, where i studied sound and then took to image making. Drawing, graphic design and photography. It’s amazing what you can do with these cameras. It can sometimes function like a “portal” to connect and socialize with the world. It took me out of the studio and brought me to the streets, events and gatherings. The camera earned me new friends. I always have a camera on me. Well, most of the time!
I shoot editorial, environmental portraiture, documentary, fine art, events, street photography and much more. And that’s because i like to keep an open mind and a broad spectrum when it comes to the art of photographing. I’m constantly trying to update my knowledge, perception and understanding of this medium.
I work with the newest cutting edge mirrorless cameras but also shoot the classic age old analogue cameras, when workin on film. I grew up with film photography and love it. The grain, the light leaks, and the so called imperfections of film makes it a wonderful medium.
I have been teaching photography and guiding groups of students on city photowalks, where we practice the discipline of street photography in urban environments. I also like to let them shoot polaroid photos, so they can take something physical home with them. Something they can look at, touch and attach a memory to.
Now you know a little bit about me, and what i do. Thanks for your interest in my practice and for visiting the website. You can also reach me through my socials if you are interested in my work. Have a good one.
Cheers!
